Prague
International Airport Ruzyne is an public
civilian airport located on the northwest edge of
Prague. To the city centre it is about 16km/ 10
miles. It takes approximately 30 minutes to reach
the center by car and about 45 minutes on public
transport (bus and subway). All international
flights to Prague arrives here. After new Terminal 2
was built airport become probably the biggest
airport in the Czech Republic and in Central and
Eastern Europe as a whole. In last five years
airport Prague double the number of passengers it
served compare to previous years. Around fifty
flight carriers who operate direct connections,
scheduled and occasional connections to 103
destinations around the world making this airport
one of the most important hub in central Europe.
Also Airport Prague ranks one of the Top 20 biggest
European airports. Airport offers all modern
facilities and shops to served highest demands
including VIP clients.
Ruzyně
International Airport (IATA: PRG, ICAO: LKPR)
serves Prague, Czech Republic. Airport is a
hub for Czech Airlines. It was opened on April 5,
1937.
Most flights takes off Ruzyně International Airport
from the North Terminals (North 1 and North 2). The
South Terminals (South 1 and South 2) handle a few
irregular flights, as well as VIP flights, special
flights and small aircraft.
In 2004, the airport served 9.7 million passengers,
in 2005 nearly 10.8 millions and in 2006 11.6
million.
The airport contains two runways in service: 06/24
and 13/31. Former runway 04/22 is not used anymore.
The most used runway is 24 due to the prevailing
western winds. Runway 31 is also used often. Runway
06 is used rarely while runway 13 is used only
exceptionally.
Public transport to and from Prague city center
involves taking the bus number 119 to Dejvická metro
station and transferring on to the green metro line
(Line A) there or express number 100 to Zličín metro
station (yellow Line B) farther from the city
centre. A typical trip takes about 40 minutes. There
are also other bus services that operate after
midnight when the metro line is closed.
From December 11, 2005 also the bus line AE
(=Airport Express): RW Station Holešovice - Terminal
North 1 - Terminal North 2 - AP Ruzyně; goes every
day, from 5.00 to 22.00 H in the interval of 30
minutes; special tariff: 45 CZK.
How do I know
which terminal I will be arriving at or leaving
from?
If you are arriving/departing from a non-Schengen
Treaty country, you will arrive/depart in/from
terminal North 1. If your last/first leg of your
journey into/from Prague is from/to a Schengen
Treaty country, you will arrive/depart in/from
terminal North 2.
Please be aware, being a member of the European
Union does not necessarily mean one is a part of
this treaty. Also, not all Schengen Treaty countries
are European Union members - a bit of a confussion.
